Vocal Music — Introduce students to vocal music, including listening to others in a choral setting, developing a sense of pitch, and having fun in singing engaging tunes. Perform together in end of semester events and public recitals.
Music I — Introduce students to an entry-level comprehension of the basic concepts of Western-canon music. The primary methods of instruction are 1) games that provide a tangible experience in otherwise abstract concepts, and 2) weekly drills that build confidence in both aural skills and music literacy. The secondary methods of instruction are 1) weekly, in-class worksheets and 2) memorization of listening assignments (provided by the instructor to parent/student via electronic cloud storage). Several instruments will be encountered, some hands-on or personal experience and some by ear. These include un-pitched percussion, pitched percussion, winds, brass, strings, and vocals.
Music II — Students study the history of the Classical Era in music, focusing on Mozart. Minor scales, key signatures, triads, and intervals are covered in music theory and each student writes a two-part composition at the end of the semester.
Art, Basic — We will study art during the Medieval time period and recreate in our own way forms of different art of the past. Will work with pencils, clay, glass, and other mediums to challenge each student to use their skills to create specialized art styles of the past.
Art, Advanced— Students will do a study of American Art and then work our way to creating our own art style. Students will use pencils, paints, markers, colored pencils, and more. Join us to discover your own art style.
Art History — to be added in the future
Drama I — Introduces students to the elements of acting, performance, and play production. It begins with technical instruction, group activities, and creative workshops designed to build acting skills especially those of voice, movement, stage presence, and collaboration. Production of a play from the modern repertoire.
