Physical Education — Students get exercise, burn energy, develop skills and collaborate in teams in sports and other physical activities. Modules are offered by experts in specific co-ed sports, such as volleyball, softball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, archery and target practice. All activities are supervised by adults who both foster excellence and encourage the development of skills and inclusive cooperation by students of all skill levels. This class, the Projects class, and Music appreciation are unique in that they are open to students registered for other classes at Veritas Christi Hybrid Academy. It takes place once a week, Thursdays 2:25-3:35. Interested families may email info@VeritasChristiHybrid.org or call the school number. The cost of the class is $20 per semester per family for those not enrolled full time.
Projects / Computers — This class provides an opportunity to cultivate problem solving skills, to develop leadership, to inspire a sense of craftsmanship. It fosters collaborative teamwork. Projects may be in the areas of science, robotics, and technical skills. This class also supports our work in Action. For computers, we use a team-competitive and achievement-based system that mixes guided and self-directed instruction. We start with the basics of what to watch out for online, build skills with various Google and Microsoft programs, offer modules in basic system administration, introduce logic and programming, and work toward more advanced programming techniques. The beginner class takes place at 2:30pm Tuesdays, and the advanced class is at 9:10 am Thursdays. The cost of the class for the semester, $200 per student (scholarships and work-study opportunities are available), covers materials used for the class, including parts to build projects like robots. The focus for the Fall of 2021 is computer-aided design (CAD) in 3D and robotics.
Action — Action is a purposeful extracurricular activity for youth, oriented around Christ-centered service. While Action is not a class at Veritas Christi Hybrid Academy, students are encouraged to participate in this activity which aligns well with the ideals of the Academy. See the Action web page.
